Rye Golf Course
Situated in Sussex, this course is very difficult to play and asks for a very high level of skill, demanding attention and patience in equal measure. It also would be a big help to know a member to get on! This old fashioned links takes you back in time to a game where long blind shots are asked for, shots that need to
be hit to the right places, all the while calculating the persistent strong winds that are the main defences of this south coast links, thereby putting a premium on course management.

Rye constantly tests your game as the course requires excellent iron play particularly if you wish to score well on the 5 Par 3’s. There are 9 Par 4’s over 400 yards long and it’s easy to see why it has a reputation for being one of the hardest courses to match your handicap.

However it is comforting to know that after negotiating the tees and tight links fairways, the greens are some of the slickest in the country. A wonderful testament to links golf, just how it was supposed to be.

Description
The choice of courses in England is almost endless for the discerning golf visitor. There are mighty seaside links such as those of Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake, where the Amateur Championship was born and where Bobby Jones won the Open Championship in his historic Grand Slam year of 1930. There is plenty of historic interest in English golf, with the oldest existing course in England and Westward Ho in Devon. The club was formed there in 1864 and today sheep continue to grace the ancient links on this common land.
