The signature hole on the championship Old Course is probably the 18th. Saving the best till last this 237 yard Par 3 requires a precision iron that has to avoid a lake to the front, trees all down the left side and the historic 14th century country mansion hotel in the background and if that’s not enough to put you off remember it has been known to take 11 shots to finish this hole. What a wonderful way to end the day.
The Old course has been host to numerous European Tour events down through the years with such notable winners as Seve Ballesteros, Langer, Norman and their very own Ian Woosnam have triumphed here. It was also host to the Solheim Cup in 1996 and the Welsh Masters in 2000. |
