Two
courses reside here, the Old and the New and both are simply
fabulous. They are the primary examples of heathland style golf.
The courses ramble through magnificent forests of conifer and
pine with heather, bracken and gorse adjoining each fairway.
The
Old course has been left with an historical imprint by none
other than the legendary Bobby Jones accomplishment of shooting
66 in 1926. Some would say the finest round of golf ever! His
score comprised of 12 fours and 6 threes, 33 for the front and
33 for the back. Moreover Mr. Jones took 33 shots from tee to
green and 33 putts in total. He then went on to win the Open.
Sunningdale
Old & New fulfils every criteria for a great course. A grand
test that asks all the right questions of your game, hauntingly
beautiful golf that will draw you back for more.
