The
legendary Gene Sarazen won the Open Championship here in 1932.
It was torn up during World War II and it now has a new layout
of three nine hole loops. It is used as a pre-qualifying course
when the Open comes to Royal St. Georges.
It is situated
in Sandwhich Bay, Kent known as the Garden of England and it’s
an example of some of the finest links land in Britain and is
playable throughout the entire year. The greens are famous here
for being in excellent condition resulting in very fast and
true surfaces. It has a uniquely honest design feature where
from the middle of every fairway the bottom of every flag stick
can be seen. However protection is fairly portioned out for
those who stray into the ancient dunes for the rough grasses
are well used to multiplying a reasonable score quickly.
There
is never a moment where you will not be impressed with views
over Sandwich Bay leading to the white cliffs of Ramsgate and
a warm welcome awaiting you in the clubhouse, there are no excuses!
