Having a palatial 5 star hotel and maybe the best inland golf course
all will be revealed in 2006 when The Ryder Cup arrives. Risk and
reward are measured out in equal amounts for the golfing traveler..

Set
in 330 acres of prime land in the heart of County Kildare this
championship course designed by Arnold Palmer opened in 1991
and is set to host the 2006 Ryder Cup. Palmer has stated on
completion of the course “we could draw for 100 years
and still not come up with as good a vision”.
Arnold
Palmer said of his design thoughts “what I have done is
to offer the option of an extremely testing course off the back
tees or more modest length off the middle tees, either way I
feel I have guaranteed that the player will get enjoyment”.
The 7th hole, named Inish More is beauty & the beast, at
over 600 yards double dog legging its way towards Straffan House
along the River Liffey where the final approach shot on this
Par 5 has to be crossed to reach the island green.
When
battle is done the retreat to the Kildare Hotel is pure pleasure,
the first hotel in Ireland to receive a 5 star A.A. rating and
the Byerley Turk restaurant a fitting place to discuss the day's
triumphs on the course or the size of the trout that got away.
The
course is also home to the European Open each year with past
champions such as Darren Clarke & Lee Westwood.
