"One
of the best kept secrets in British golf" according to
'Today's Golfer'. This course is formed by springy fairways
cut through areas of heather, whins and shrubs. The autumn
colours of the surrounding trees are particularly appealing
and its scenic beauty is only matched by the interesting design
of the bunkers and greens.
Dr Alister Mackenzie, the famous golf architect, joined forces
with Harry Shapland Colt in order to create Alwoodley in 1907.Over
the years this course has stood the test of time and is now
in the best condition it has been for many years. Today only
the 10th and 11th greens have been altered from the origional
design and even they have been in place for over 70 years!
